The State Art Museum of Uzbekistan is one of the largest museums in Central Asian region and holds the unique works of Eastern and West European Art. It was founded in 1918 on the basis of the small collection, which consisted of 500 items. The earlier collection of the Museum of Art in Tashkent consisted of works of Russian and Western-European Art, including painting, sculpture, artistic furniture, porcelain, bronze and others.
During the 20th century, as a result of the collecting and scientific works, the number of the exhibits had reached about 50 000. Now the exhibition of the Museum of Art in Tashkent includes works of artists of Uzbekistan, Russia, countries of the Eastern and Western Europe.
