The Bukhara Artisan Development Center was established on June 6, 1996 by Bukhara craftsmen. The Center received help from the Government of Bukhara, the association of artisans “Everlasting heritage”, Aid to Artisans, Mercy Corps International, the United Nations Development Programs, UNESCO and the United States Peace Corps. The main goal of the Bukhara Artisan Development Center is to revive and develop ancient handcrafts. Now the centre actively conducts seminars, training and conference and organizes exhibitions and fairs.
The Bukhara Artisan Development Center is located on Naqshbandi Street near the Lyab-i-Hauz complex. The centre is a workshop of artisans who create and sell a variety of handicrafts including silk-embroidered tapestries, miniature paintings, jewelry boxes and chess sets.
