He was known as the Shaikh of Miracles, One Who Shone Like the Sun, and he was the Master of the high stations of spirituality of his time. He was a Perfect Knower in sufism and accomplished in asceticism. He is considered the Fountainhead of this Honorable Sufi Order and the Wellspring of the Masters of Central Asia. Abdul Khaliq, one of the Seven Masters of Wisdom in Naqshbandi Golden Chain, was born in Ghujdawan, a town forty kilometers northeast of Bukhara. There he lived and passed his life and was buried. Today, his tomb is a pilgrimage site.

There is also Ulughbek Madrassa nearby, built by the order of Ulugh Bek,  the grand son of Amir Temur, in 1433.
